WordPress 2.6 is out and as always they have packed this release with some wonderful features! Check this video to see the list of features or read them after the jump!

Here’s a list of features that WordPress is offering:

• Press This! : Now post from anywhere on the web
• Word Count: This was due for release for long, now you don’t have to count the words at all, let WordPress do this for you
• Automatic Plugin update Notification
• Full SSL support in the core and the ability to force SSL for better security
• Shift Gears : In this release, WordPress uses a “Local Server” to cache and keep a copy of commonly-used JavaScript and CSS files on your computer which can increase the page loading speed
• Now you can toggle between the Flash uploader and the classic one.
• A completely revamped image control to allow for easier inserting, floating, and resizing. It’s now fully integrated with the WYSIWYG.
• Post Revisions: Wiki-like tracking of edits which helps collaborative blogs with multiple writers
• Google Gears Support: Probably the most interesting feature yet is the Google Gears Support for WordPress 2.6. This will enable users to write posts even in offline mode.
• Identicons: A built in gravatars for those who don’t have one.
• And not to mention - Version 2.6 fixes approximately 194 bugs.
